Bij de biosynthese van cholesterol komt hetzelfde enzym kijken. Het boek zegt op blz. 206-207:
[...] The enzymes involved, HMG-CoA synthase and lyase, are unique to hepatocytes; mitochondrial HMG-CoA is an essential intermediate. [...]
Tegenspraak of iets dat ik niet zie?
Virtually all human cells have the capacity to make cholesterol. Liver is the major site of cholesterol biosynthesis and smaller amounts are synthesized in the intestine, adrenal cortex and gonads. [...] These reactions, catalyzed by acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase and HMG-CoA synthase, are common to the formation of ketone bodies, although the latter process occurs within mitochondria rather than the cytosol.
