Wereldwijd zoeken wetenschappers een manier om lasers in een chip te bouwen. Als dat kan wordt het namelijk mogelijk om optische computers in productie te nemen. Onderzoekers van MIT ontwikkelden een laser op basis van de halfgeleider germanium, die op kamertemperatuur werkt én te integreren is
