Engels: suffixen -ic en -ical
In het Engels zijn er voor bijvoegelijke naamwoorden soms verschillende (schrijf)alternatieven; economic kan bijvoorbeeld ook als economical geschreven worden. Ditzelfde geld voor electric en electrical . Weet iemand wat het daadwerkelijke verschil in toepassing tussen deze vormen op -ic en -ical is?

Economic means "having to do with the economy or the study of economics."
Economical means "careful or prudent in managing finances, money- saving."
Hetzelfde geldt bijvoorbeeld voor historic(al), cubic(al),...Electric = using electricity for power: an electric blanket; an electric kettle
Electrical = related to electricity: electrical switching system; electrical faults
Electronic = using, based on or used in a system of operation which involves the control of electric current by various devices: an electronic gamesboard; electronic gadgets; electronic devices.
