HPV virus

Hallo,

Heeft het HPV virus (dat is het virus die baarmoederhalskanker veroorzaakt) een envelop?

En indien je een uitstrijkje maakt welke cellen zou je dan vinden in een NORMAAL cervicaal preparaat?

Alvast bedankt

Re: HPV virus

Abstract: Infection with human papillonnavirus (HPV) is an absolute prerequisite to development of cervical cancer. Despite early cancer screening by cytological testing, the incidence at approx. 7000 new cases is still relatively high in comparison to other West European countries. The two high-risk HPV types 16 and 18 are responsible for more than 70% of all cases of cervical cancer. So-called "virus-like particles"can induce a humoral immune response to the HPV envelope protein L1. The results of double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 11 studies on prophylactic inoculation with a bivalent or quadrivalent vaccine against HPV 16/18 and against the HPV types 6/11 that cause genital warts showed good tolerability, 100% seroconversion, and almost complete prevention of persistent infections, cervical dysplasias, and genital warts that can be caused by the vaccine type. Large phase III studies on more than 40,000 participants are currently underway. Market authorisation of the vaccine is expected for 2006. The vaccination should be administered before first sexual intercourse. Since not all HPV types are covered by the vaccines, regular screening examinations for early cancer detection remain important
