LONDON (Reuters) - Passive smoking appears to significantly raise a person's risk of dementia and other forms of cognitive problems, British and U.S. researchers said on Friday.

Several prospective studies have suggested that smoking in middle aged and elderly people is associated with an increased risk of dementia1234, but at least one study found no association5, and one report suggested that nicotine may have a protective effect on AD by reducing senile plaque formation6.
