idea to measure the speed of bullets and that of light, presents a
classical
system that obeys the Schroedinger equation, introduces Tesla coils,
shows
that space-time has different properties in certain patent offices,
tells how
to see effects from atoms using only a lamp and a piece of metal, gives
more
details on clouds and jets of astronomic size, shows how to perform a
precision Michelson-Morley experiment, gives the latest results on the
Pioneer
anomaly, introduces fusion reactors, demonstrates the chromatic lens
errors of
the eye, and presents the simplest unsolved problem about the trefoil
knot.
The text also provides improved writing, more figures, more
curiosities, many
additional solutions to the challenges, and, thanks to the help of
Martin
Elsaesser, the first embedded animation. Many thanks also to all those

The twentieth edition also introduces robots that walk on
water, explains how to observe the polarization of light with
the unaided human eye (in the same way as honey bees do),
includes a clearer explanation of the curl of a function,
introduces dromions and the challenge to observe them in
everyday life, shows how to produce floating plasma clouds
similar to ball lighting, improves the explanation of quantum

how to compare the density of the Moon and the Sun by looking

Helemaal mee eens, maar in dit geval. Downloaden, uitprinten, inbinden, in de boekenkast zetten. Uit de boekenkast halen en lezen.
Als ik dat nu eens eerder had geweten... dan was ik het vast alweer vergeten.

dat doe je dan best niet met je inktjet printertje. en het is dan nog altijd niet als een gekocht boek, maar wel al heel wat beter dan een scherm!Helemaal mee eens, maar in dit geval. Downloaden, uitprinten, inbinden, in de boekenkast zetten. Uit de boekenkast halen en lezen.

is het betrouwbaar? - Ik denk eerder dat dit boek handig is voor klein opzoekwerk - maar om het uit te lezen?

Ik zou toch een ieder willen motiveren om dit boek te lezen. Ik heb al een deel(tje) gelezen en er even doorheen gebladerd en het is echt leuk geschreven en zeer de moeite waar. Zelf weten natuurlijk maar dergelijke boeken zijn al zeldzaam laat staan gratis. Goed bijna 1400 bladzijden maar er staan plaatjes in en sommige bewegen zelfs. 
Als ik dat nu eens eerder had geweten... dan was ik het vast alweer vergeten.

tip: print het verkleind af: als je 8 bladzijden kunt afprinten op 1 blad, (4 voor, 4 achter) dan is het nog maar 175 bladen meer om af te drukken - kwestie van goed kunnen lezen!

Ik bewonder de energie en het volhoudingsvermogen om een dergelijk wetenschappelijk werk -en ook in het engels- in elkaar te zetten.Ik hoop voor de topichouder (Schiller?) dat er weinig laatdunkende reacties komen;ik meende er een paar te herkennen.De "criticasters"zouden hun eigen capaciteiten en prestaties eens onder de loupe moeten nemen voordat ze commentaar leveren.
Ik hoop alleen wel voor Schiller-als hij getrouwd is- dat zijn gemalin met hem leven kan (een opmerking van de mijne)!

Ik heb een soortgelijk project (lightandmatter.com) al eens afgeprint en met plezier gelezen(op de WC [rr] ) . Ik zal dit ook zeker eens naderbij bekijken. tis iig fantastisch dat er nog mensen zijn die ondanks zoveel moeite zijn medemens wil onderwijzen. en zoiets lezen is leuker dan naar familie kijken.
samenbindtipje: Ik leg max. een 2-tal cm bladen -eventueel met stijvere voor en achterkantbladen- op mekaar met een kladblad aan voor en achterkant dat voorbij de rugkant komt, wrijf de rugkant in met transparante Pattex, leg er wat boeken op, laat nachtje drogen, verwijder schutbladen en plak op de rugkant een brede elektrische isolatieplakband = mooi boekie
samenbindtipje: Ik leg max. een 2-tal cm bladen -eventueel met stijvere voor en achterkantbladen- op mekaar met een kladblad aan voor en achterkant dat voorbij de rugkant komt, wrijf de rugkant in met transparante Pattex, leg er wat boeken op, laat nachtje drogen, verwijder schutbladen en plak op de rugkant een brede elektrische isolatieplakband = mooi boekie

Zouden de meeste Nederlanders die tot de doelgroep behoren niet tevens voldoende het Engels beheersen?
